Tender Description
The Australian Department of Social Services (the Department) invites suitably qualified organisations to tender for the provision of Humanitarian Settlement Services (HSS) in Northern Perth and Western Australia.
HSS is a key programme for delivering initial settlement support to humanitarian clients arriving in Australia. The programme assists eligible clients to successfully settle in Australia, participate effectively in the Australian way of life and access services available to the broader public.
HSS and its precursor programmes are long-standing components of the Commonwealth’s support mechanisms for people arriving in Australia on humanitarian grounds. HSS exists to equip eligible entrants arriving under the Australian Government’s Humanitarian Programme with the skills, knowledge and linkages to independently access services and participate in the economic and social life of Australia.
HSS operates through the case-managed provision of intensive support to eligible clients during their first 6 to 12 months of settlement in Australia. The HSS programme comprises five broad types of services: case management services, accommodation services, the orientation programme, volunteer programme (optional) and local area coordination.
HSS delivers services to clients on a needs-assessment basis, with each client receiving a suitably tailored package of services. In accordance with current government policy, HSS service providers will be encouraged to develop innovative programmes assisting clients to locate and source employment opportunities.
