The Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI) utilises robotic liquid handling workstations in genomic research to automate processes, achieve accurate and efficient delivery of services, and to free up staff time for other applications. DEPI now needs to expand its capabilities in robotic liquid handling and automation to meet a rise in genomics sample numbers and to speed up metabolomics analytical processes required to meet milestones under funded projects that DEPI is contracted to deliver. The expansion of the Departments automated processing capabilities is critical to its ongoing science delivery for the benefit of the Victorian agricultural sector.
 
DEPI wishes to purchase two robotic liquid handling workstations with associated integrated devices to enable automation of a range of processes for the genomics and metabolomics research programs. DEPI will also consider the option or purchasing a third workstation, to be utilised by the genomics research program.
