SA Health is looking to contract with one or more providers over 5 years (3 years initially with options to extend for a further 2 years) for the provision of ophthalmic diagnostic equipment which would satisfy the Project requirements and allow for similar future purchases across SA Health where required.
Integrated ophthalmology treatment chairs and electronic eye charts are required by the new Royal Adelaide Hospital Project. Integrated chairs comfortably support the patient, and allow the clinician to adjust the height and control the angle. They are referred to as “integrated” as they include an attached mobile workstation for a slit lamp (or other diagnostic device) and a built-in power source.
This power source controls the height and angle of the chair, and provides auxiliary power to diagnostic instruments. The illuminated eye charts, or visual acuity charts, typically consist of an LCD/LED panel and a remote control unit for selecting the correct acuity test program. Unlike static eye charts, these digital displays can offer a broad range of diagnostic tests to physicians reducing the need to purchase additional tests in future.
