Tender Description

The Victorian Department of Justice & Regulation (DJR) seeks submissions from service providers who wish to be considered to provide trauma cleaning services.

Trauma cleaning services may be necessary following an act of violence perpetrated against a victim or by a person against himself or herself. The Trauma Cleaning Service aims to respond to trauma incidents with physical or environmental consequences, so that the scene is (within the scope of the cleaning process) restored as close as possible to the state it was in prior to the relevant incident.

DJR provides trauma cleaning services as part of its function to support victims and victims’ families. There are also public health benefits in quickly organising an effective clean-up.

Actions involved in trauma cleaning potentially include:

* Tidying
* Cleaning up after any forensic investigations that impact on the crime scene
* Removal of physical hazards
* Decontamination of biological and chemical hazards.

Trauma cleaning is coordinated and funded by DJR through the Victims Support Agency (VSA). The VSA receives information about potential trauma scenes from the Victoria Police.

Applicants with a genuine businesss capability and capacity are required to Contact Amanda Smillie, Department of Justice & Regulation, on vsa@justice.vic.gov.au to: Request a copy of the Trauma Cleaning Confidentiality Agreement. Please note that prospective applicants are required to sign and return the Agreement before tender materials are distributed.
