Tender Description

Ausgrid requires the contracted services of a company capable of providing civil and construction works at the existing Leichhardt Zone Substation in preparation for new 132 kV transformers.

The broad scope of the civil work is divided in two separable portions as follows:
Separable Portion 1. Remove separation screen in Transformer Bay 2, construct new cable pit, extend conduits from new switch control building to new pit, demobilise from site.
Separable Portion 2. Same as work in Separable Potion 1 but in Transformer Bay 3.

Each Separable Portion of work includes:
Remove separation screen in transformer 2 or 3 as appropriate including all foundations and obstructions to enable the new works. Remove any existing 33 kV or 11 kV termination structures and associated metalwork

Demolish and remove parts of the existing concrete transformer foundations and cable chase and make good

Saw cut existing transformer foundation to enable for the construction of the new cable pit, new pulling blocks and earthing transformer foundations and all foundation bolts as shown on drawings

Excavate and remove portions of steel shoring to enable extension of conduits from new switch control building into new cable pit

Install conduits, make good existing asbestos conduits to be re-used, construct new cable pit, pulling blocks and works shown on drawings

Remove and dispose of all material (contaminated including asbestos or otherwise), reinstate ballast and supply additional as required dispose of all material (contaminated or otherwise), reinstate ballast and supply additional as required

Build new 132 kV sealing support foundations, 11 kV termination structure foundations and earthing transformer foundations

There will be existing services (power cables, earth cables, drainage etc.) that are within the construction zone, these services will have to be protected and maintained during the works and in their current locations

The contractor will have to demobilise from site after separable portion 1 works. It may take Ausgrid up to 12 months to prepare the site for separable portion 2 works. When the site is prepared for separable portion 2 works, the contactor will again be given site possession to complete the scope of works under the contract.

A mandatory pre-tender meeting will be held on site at 133 Balmain Rd, Leichhardt, NSW at 10 am, Friday 6 May 2016. All prospective respondents must attend this meeting.

A maximum of two representatives from each company can be accommodated and prospective respondents must register their intention to attend the pre-tender meeting by emailing Mr. lucas.ocampo@ausgrid.com.au by 4 pm no later than one working day before the meeting.

Tenderers are invited to arrange supplementary site inspections after the tender meeting by making arrangements through TenderLink.

All personnel attending the site must be wearing arc rated clothing. Arc rated clothing must comply with minimum ATPV of 4 calories/cm2, and meet the requirements of the following standards ASTM F 1506 or IEC 61482-2 or NFPA 70E. Clothing meeting the requirement should be marked showing conformity to the relevant standard. Clothing needs to be long sleeves and long pants. Further, all must wear/have safety footwear, a high visibility vest, safety eyewear, a safety helmet and must have gloves on their person.

Respondents are advised that failure to wear appropriate PPE identified above may result in refusal to enter site and attend the mandatory pre-tender meeting. This will impact on a respondent's ability to submit a conforming tender.
