The Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Explosives Inspectorate, is responsible for the operation of the Queensland Government Explosives Reserves (GER), which are located at:
* Helidon - approximately 110 km west of Brisbane;
* Bajool - approximately 35kms south of Rockhampton;
* Brookhill - approximately 20 km south of Townsville; and
* Queerah - approximately 12 km south of Cairns.

The objectives of the individual Security contracts for each of the GER’s are:
* To ensure security services are fit for purpose for each reserve,
* To ensure the provider has the ability to increase or decrease levels of security cover, in a timely manner, both in quantity and profile depending on specific risk factors.
* To provide an effective delivery of security services to the GER’s with a formalised agreement.
