Tender Description

The Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) a division of the Department of Mines and Petroleum has a team of geoscience editors on staff to work on about 40 books, 25 maps, and 20 digital data packages per year (this varies). The services of consultant editors are required during peak periods.

Formal geological background or qualifications are beneficial although not mandatory. However, an interest and background in science and particularly geology are essential. More specialised tasks that may be necessary will be undertaken internally by the existing GSWA geoscience editorial staff and will NOT be allocated to the panel.

A panel of up to five geoscience editors will be established, with one or more editors being selected from the panel to complete particular editorial tasks. The panel will be used when there are increased workloads during peak periods.

Preference for orders will be given to panel members who are available to do the work at the time it is required, can meet the required deadline and offer value for money.

Panel members will be required to edit and prepare geoscience manuscripts for publication, in order to assist GSWA in its commitment to provide, in a timely manner, up-to-date, quality regional geoscientific data and information to the mining and petroleum industries, Government, and the public to encourage and support resource exploration and facilitate informed land use planning and State development.
