Expressions of Interest are being sought on behalf of the Minister for Mines and Petroleum (the Minister) in order to permit him to invite two interested parties to each apply for a small mining lease for the extraction of limestone and for a related miscellaneous licence. This will be in accordance with Section 19 (Sect.19) of the Mining Act 1978 (the Mining Act) as it is within State Forest 16 that is covered with the Section 19/318 Exemption Area.

The site is located approximately mid-way between Mandurah and Bunbury. It is intended that the holders of each mining lease will extract limestone from one of two areas within the pine plantations where there are remnant areas of native vegetation that were not planted with pine trees when the original plantation was developed.

Under Sect.19 of the Mining Act the Minister may call in such manner as he determines for applications for the grant of tenements over land exempted under that section.
