Ergon Energy Queensland is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified Contractors for the provision of design, supply, installation and ongoing maintenance of a Stand Alone Hybrid Power Supply at Bustard Heads Queensland. Bustard Heads site has unique and challenging features such that alternate solutions for providing safe, reliable and accessible power supply other than the existing grid Single Wire Earth Return (SWER) may be cost effective.

The Bustard Heads SWER extends 24 kilometres across difficult terrain that is often impassable in wet weather or during high tides. The SWER grid supply supports the Bustard Heads Lighthouse and the Bustard Heads visitor centre (run by the Bustard Heads Lighthouse Association). The site operates as an historical tourist site and is located on the southeast tip of Bustard Heads, a headland about 20 kilometres northwest of the township of 1770, within the Eurimbula National Park.

This document also provides details for the minimum on-going service and maintenance requirements for the Stand-alone Power Supply Hybrid System.

The provision of supply and on-going service and maintenance of the Stand-alone Power Supply Hybrid System is based on the existing site electricity loads with the potential for some limited future expansion. The Stand-alone Power Supply Hybrid System shall be of a quality and reliability to match or exceed existing electricity supply in terms of energy and power capacity within the parameters provided within this document.

This is a pilot project with key objectives of:
Meeting End User Customer experiences that are not dissimilar to typical grid-connected electricity customers and determining an appropriate pathway for Ergon Energy Network for sites where similar issues prevail.

The successful Contractor may be awarded a Contract that enables Ergon Energy to invite them to a future Closed Tender process for additional works of a similar nature located throughout Queensland.
