The Authority operates Newman Sewage Treatment Plant which is a 15,000 ep activated sludge plant based on a two channel Envirex Orbal process and presently has two operating secondary clarifiers one recently installed the other the original settling tank installed in 1981 and now in need of a mechanical and electrical upgrade.

The clarifier the subject of these proposed works is a Peripheral Drive Suction Clarifier and deploys a Unitube header (Tow-Bro) driven by a rotating half diameter bridge.

This drive utilises rubber or PU tyred wheels running on the concrete outer wall of the clarifier.

The clarifier has a central influent pipe which is supported by a central cage discharging within an influent well [refer to Appendix 6.2 for more details].

Whilst a complete mechanical and electrical replacement of the existing clarifier infrastructure "like for like" is being sought by this Request for Tender other alternatives may also be considered subject to submission of a complaint offer.
