Tender Description

Classic Motorcycle Mecca opened in November 2016. The collection displays New Zealand's premier motorcycle collection and through this project Transport World aims to develop, enhance and broaden Classic Motorcycle Mecca's visitor experience. This project aims to add new dimensions to the attraction through the development of more space, enhanced information resources and new activities for families and children. It is hoped this development will continue to improve Invercargill's current tourism offering, increase visitor numbers and positively enhance Transport World and Invercargill's unique wheeled story. Please visit https://www.transportworld.co.nz/motorcycle-mecca/ for further information about Classic Motorcycle Mecca.

Through this RFP Transport World are seeking to engage with one or more innovative design partners who can provide design flare and expertise in developing and refining a full concept master plan which the detailed design and delivery will be based on. As it is anticipated that unique, innovative and exciting ideas, activities and attractions of various size and scale will be able to be offered by different designers, Transport World are open to engaging multiple designers to provide their ideas and expertise. After this phase of the project there is the potential to grow the project relationship to include the full design and delivery.

Within this stage of the project Transport World see the key tasks the successful designers will complete as:

* A review of the current facility, layout and attractions to identify what is working and what can be improved upon to achieve Transport Worlds goals.
* The finalisation in objective, project direction and scope including key design and attraction themes.
* Create fun, unique, exciting, hands on attractions and activities for children, adults and families to engage in.
* Liaise with other designers to incorporate and include all design/attraction activities into the project.
* Completion of a concept master plan including attractions and art installations, museum layout and atmosphere and cost estimates from which the project can proceed into detailed design, fabrication and implementation.

It is intended that following conclusion of this RFP process a preferred design partner/s will be identified and subject to successful negotiations a contractual arrangement will be entered into.
