Roads and Maritime Services is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from accredited Authorised Inspection Scheme (AIS) proprietors to participate in a six month trial from March 2018 allowing their authorised examiners to carry out mobile safety inspections in specific regions across NSW.
The objectives of the Authorised Inspection Scheme mobile safety inspections trial are to:
* Assess whether mobile pink slip services improve customer flexibility
* Analyse the practicalities of conducting a mobile safety inspection away from a fixed station
* Analyse if there is any impact to the integrity of safety inspections for light vehicles
* Advise Government about whether the Authorised Inspection Scheme should be open to providing mobile safety inspection services state-wide.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible to participate in the trial, an Authorised Inspection Scheme proprietor must:
* Be an authorised proprietor of a fixed-premises Authorised Inspection Scheme station and must employ or engage authorised examiners
* Authorised examiners must have a minimum of one year experience in mobile mechanic or mobile road service industry
* Authorised examiners must hold a current Motor Vehicle Tradesperson Certificate (MVTC)
* Authorised proprietors and examiners must have a clear compliance history for a minimum five years.

The service will be available to customers in the following locations: Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong and key regional areas.
Expression of Interest timeline
The deadline for submissions is 19 February 2018.
Announcement of successful applicants is 2 March 2018.
Successful applicants will need to accept the offer to participate in the trial by 9 March 2018.
Training is scheduled to occur in the week commencing 12 March 2018.
