Tender ID: 356435
Tender Details
Tender Description
Council is working with the Rattler Rail Company to remove approximately 750sqm of asbestos sheeting from the roof, gables and guttering of the Mary Valley Rattler workshop on Chapple Street from 14 May 2018.
Queensland Asbestos Management Services (QAMS) have been contracted to complete the works over a four-day period.
Works will include submission of relevant paperwork to Wok Place Health and Safety Queensland, removal of the asbestos, and disposal of all contaminated materials at an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved landfill. All work will be carried out under the strict guidelines of the Workplace Health and Safety Regulations 2011 and How to Remove Asbestos Code of Practice 2011.
Dust will be contained with a high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtered vacuum that has been approved for asbestos decontamination. Air monitoring, certificate of analysis and certificate of clearance will be issued by a certified asbestos hygienist following the works to ensure the area is safe to re-enter. Air will be monitored for safety while the works are in progress.
Properties adjacent to the site have been contacted directly by QAMS.
Trains will be shunted from the workshop prior to works commencing.
Once the asbestos has been removed, Newks Plumbing have been contracted to install replacement roof sheeting, commencing 21 May (weather permitting) once clearance has been sought from QAMS. Roof replacement may take 3 to 4 weeks.
