Townsville City Council operates a Waste Facility (Stuart Landfill). The site is located on Vantassel Street to the South of Townsville. The Landfill will be in service beyond 2030. To enable this longevity, additional cells are required to be constructed on the site.

This tender is for the construction of Cell 2C interface liner. Cell 2C is located within Stuart Waste Facility immediately north of the Cell 2Bii and Cell 2Bi interface liner area. The cell to be constructed is approximately 100 m in length from north to south and on average approximately 190 m wide from east to west.

The works will comprise of the following.

1. Prepare subgrade, comprising stripping and grubbing the existing surface and shaping the existing surface where considered necessary to remove low spots or significant irregularities in the subgrade surface.
2. The Cell 2C construction consist of:
a. A series of Gas collections drains.
b. Geosynthetic reinforcing layer to distribute the strains from the geomembrane due to the settlement of underlying waste.
c. 200mm thick bridging layer
d. Geosynthetic clay liner.
e. 1.5mm thick linear low density polyethylene geomembrane.
f. Cushion geotextile.
g. Geosynthetic reinforcing layer to retain the overlaying protection layer.
h. 400mm thick protection layer.
