Tender Details
Tender Description
The Longreach Airport runway and taxiway lighting system is approximately 30 years old, with condition assessments indicating that the system is nearing the end of life.
The system comprises of a powerhouse switch board, fed from the main switchboard, that supplies the lighting control cubicle (ALER) and then directly connects to the runway, taxiway and apron bay lighting.
The main feature of the system is for pilot activation when required for take-off and landing at night through VHF transmission from the aircraft.
Infrequent faults within the control components of the system indicated deterioration of the components and safety issues of the power house switch board coupled with the age of the technology, have led to the decision to renew the system.
