LMW is upgrading and extending its rural water supply network to service new developments located immediately to the South of the Red Cliffs Irrigation district and immediately to the West of the Merbein Irrigation District.

The area of land serviced by SMP2 infrastructure has been identified by existing agribusiness developers as suitable for production of various agricultural crops and the key issue for the developers is access to an economically viable water supply.

LMW now invites suitably experienced and qualified contractors to provide an Expression of Interest (EOI) to design and construct the SMP2 infrastructure.

The SMP2 Program of works will comprise of two Design and Construct packages:

Channel Additional Flow Works (Red Cliffs South and Merbein West)
* Upgrade the existing Red Cliffs irrigation system by an additional 100ML/d flow rate to extend the Red Cliffs rural water supply network to service new developments located immediately to the South of Red Cliffs irrigation district.
* Upgrade the existing Merbein irrigation system by an additional 75ML/d flow rate to extend the Merbein rural water supply network to service new developments located to the West of Merbein irrigation district.
Storage Works (Merbein West)
* 80ML storage dam that will provide a buffer to smooth out peak flows to provide additional security to proposed users and enables management of peak day demand risk.
