Tender Description

The Project

Clarke Creek Wind, Solar and Battery power generation is owned by Squadron Energy and is now under construction, making it the biggest grid connected renewable energy project underway in Australia.

Stage One and Two will produce enough wind, solar and battery energy to power more than 660,000 homes, equivalent to 40 per cent of Queensland households, and will export lower cost electricity directly into the National Electricity Market, directly lowering power prices for millions of Queensland households and businesses.

Clarke Creek Wind Farm is located within the locality of Clarke Creek, approximately 150 kilometres northwest of Rockhampton in Central Queensland. The wind farm extends approximately 55km north to south along the Broadsound Range.

The Queensland Government has approved the construction and operation of up to 195 wind turbines and ancillary civil and electrical infrastructure.

The first stage of the project is planned to include 100 Goldwind turbines totalling 450MW.

Timing

Construction for stage 1 is underway with a completion date in Q4 of 2024.

Construction delivery

The project will be constructed by Windlab with two main BoP contractors. And four other main contract suppliers.

Civil and MAS Buildings (CBOP)

Catcon (Civil and Allied Technical Construction) Design and construction of Civil Balance of Plant (CBOP) including onsite roads, foundations & Maintenance and Servicing (MAS) buildings.

Electrical (EBOP)

Design and construction of Electrical Balance of Plant (EBOP) works consisting of three 275/33kV Substations, 275kv and 33kV Overhead and underground electrical reticulation works.

Supply and Install Wind Turbines

Goldwind will supply and install wind turbines to the project.

Goldwind will supply and install all metrological met masts.

Goldwind will also supply the ongoing maintenance for the wind turbines.

Siemens
Supply and installation of the synchronous condenser.

DB Building

Installation and running of construction camp. Catercare are the contracted accommodation camp managers.

Offsite Road Works

CMC (Civil Mining and Construction) will construct all offsite road upgrade works for the project.

Local Business Participation Program

Squadron & Windlab (EPCM) are committed to facilitating local sourcing for the project where feasible through a Local Business Participation Program. Under the first stage of the Program (Prior to NTP), local industry can register their interest in specific work packages on ICN Gateway.

During the second stage industry briefings will be held in the local areas.

Stage three, spanning project construction and transition into operations phase, will allow the major subcontractors to engage subcontractors.
