Carer Support Program for People Caring for Individuals Experiencing a Suicidal Crisis.
The Suicide Prevention in Health Services Initiative (the Initiative) is a four-year (2016/17–2019/20) $9.6 million initiative identifying and translating the evidence base for suicide prevention in a health service delivery context, and promoting the strengthening of partnerships between Queensland Health, the Primary Health Networks and people with a lived experience of suicide at a statewide and local level.
One component of the Initiative is the operation of the Suicide Prevention Health Taskforce as a partnership between the Department of Health, Hospital and Health Services, Primary Health Networks and those with a lived experience of suicide.
The Taskforce has developed a Suicide Prevention Health Taskforce Action Plan that focuses on the development of suicide prevention policy, services and programs to be used in a health service and primary health system context in order to contribute to a measurable reduction in suicide and its impact on Queenslanders. Three priority areas for action have been identified:
* Skills development and support
* Evidence based treatment and care
* Pathways to care within and outside specialist mental health services.
Queensland Health seeks one service delivery model by one Offeror.
The Successful Offeror will be required to develop, test and evaluate a multi-modal approach utilising place- based methodology in collaboration with a Hospital and Health Service/s by utilising and building on current evidence based services including:
* The provision of information and resources (e.g. online and hard copy materials)
* Education and support services/programs (e.g. telephone / online education and support services, face to face programs by trained professionals and carer peer support)
* Specialised therapeutic approaches tailored to the carer’s needs (e.g. individual, family, and peer support).
