BAE Systems are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) to supply ships with Pipe Support Manacles for the Hunter Class Frigate Program (HCFP).
BAE has recently been down selected to design and build the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) future frigates.
The BAE Systems Future Frigate offering, also known as the Hunter Class GCS-A (Global Combat Ship – Australia) is a variant of the British Type 26 GCS (T26).
The Hunter Class Frigates will be built at the ASC Shipbuilding Facility at Osborne, Adelaide, SA.
The purpose of the Capability Questionnaire is to establish the feasibility of prospective industrial partners to provide Pipe Support Manacles to BAE Systems for the HCFP.
The Hunter Class Program will require maximisation of local content in Australia.
Suppliers will be required to supply Pipe Support Manacles with the below specifications:
• Single Leg Manacles (80NB and below - exc Exhaust Gas Manacles)
- Type 1 (150/400mm legs) - Flat bar at 90° (vertical) to the manacle bolting lugs, orientated perpendicular to the pipe centre line.
- Type 2 (150/400mm legs) - Flat bar at 90° (vertical) to the manacle bolting lugs, orientated in plane with the pipe centre line.
• Double Leg Manacles (100NB and above but including Exhaust Gas Manacles)
- Standard Configuration - Two 150mm legs spread at 60° (±30° from vertical for each leg). Another two legs are bolted to these which then bend inwards to bolt to the lug perpendicular to structure.
- Short Configuration - Two legs that join parallel to the manacle and bend 90° to bolt to the lug perpendicular to the structure.
- Alternative Configuration - Two 200mm legs spread at 60° (±30° from vertical for each leg). Legs are welded directly to structure.
- Exhaust Gas Manacle - Two 150mm legs spread at 60° (±30° from vertical for each leg). Another two legs are bolted to these which then bend inwards to bolt to the lug perpendicular to structure.
• Rotated Manacles (All Pipe sizes)
- Single and Double Leg Hangers (as detailed above) shall be available with the manacle ring rotated 20° about the pipe centre.
- Manacles used in Tanks and Short Double Leg Hangers are not available as rotated parts.
