Tasracing is seeking expressions of interest to consider whether an opportunity exists for the company to purchase an existing kennel facility suitable for the Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP).

A dedicated facility owned and operated by Tasracing, with full public access, will allow GAP to better demonstrate to the community that greyhounds are perfectly suited to being pets.

Tasracing’s GAP has been in operation since late 2009.

* During 2017/18, GAP rehomed 102 greyhounds into the Tasmanian community.
* 85 greyhounds were rehomed in 2016.
* In 2018/19 to date, 96 greyhounds have been adopted.
* The current waiting list on the GAP website has 91 greyhounds either waiting or ready to be rehomed.

Tasracing’s goal is to reach a re-homing target of more than 150 greyhounds through its GAP facility annually.
