Western Sydney Primary Health Network (WSPHN) is seeking innovative proposals (service deliver models) addressing the training and support needs for Generalist Youth Service Organisations and their staff, and run workshops with schools and other youth service providers in the Western Sydney Local Health District.
The proposals shall identify the training needs, deliver training and demonstrate how they will be engaging with Youth Services and Schools.
The proposal shall address the cultural competencies and the specific requirements for the young people from CALD and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
The service delivers model shall include but not limited to:
- Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) training in high schools and selective schools
- Awareness training/ workshops to enhance the awareness and knowledge of AOD referral pathway and treatment options for young people amongst generalist youth services
- Training in other tools such as interviewing techniques to increase the skills for generalist youth workers
- Provision of generalist training on AOD issues with young people such as the street name of drugs, local drug concerns and trends, stages of change and assessment tools
- Training to youth workers to engage engaging the family in supporting a young family member through addiction
