Tender Description
The proposed project, valued at approximately $400M, will be a ~250MW dual fuel, fast-start peaking power station in Tomago, between Old Punt Rd and the Pacific Highway in NSW, within the Port Stephens local government area. This site is close to AGL’s existing Newcastle Gas Storage Facility, in an industrial area previously approved for a power station.
The power station can be turned on during peak demand periods or whenever renewables aren’t available.
The modern, responsive technology is more fuel efficient and less carbon intensive than other existing schemes.
AGL’s aim is for the power station to start construction at the beginning of 2021 and be operational by the end of 2022.
