The District Council of Karoonda East Murray is seeking the services of qualified professionals to assist us prepare a leading Economic Development and Tourism Strategy – one that recognises Council’s context and role in relation to economic and tourism development.

The strategy very much needs to be a document that Council can implement, rather than a general exposition of the economic patterns in the District Council of Karoonda East Murray Local Government Area. It needs to look at strengths, weaknesses and identify clear opportunities that can be leveraged in the short and long term.

The scope may include (but not be limited to):

• Assessment of current state and context of existing plans and strategies (local and regional), taking into consideration the recently developed Community Vision 2040 as a foundatoin of the Economic Development and Tourism Strategy;
• Delivery of staged community consultation activities in order to engage with key industries, local businesses, business associations (eg Mallee Business Association), recreational tourism operators, education providers, Council (elected members and staff) and community members;
• Development of an Economic Development and Tourism Strategy document which is congruent with the overall regional strategy (RDA & Regional Tourism Strategies) while creating opportunities for the community within the District Council of Karoonda East Murray to build upon its unique strengths and attributes.
• Development of a five-year action plan to commence the roll-out of the strategy within Council’s budgetary constraints.

The maximum budget allocation for this project is $20,000 ex GST including all associated costs (eg community consultation, workshops etc).
