Tender ID: 416330
Tender Details
Tender Description
As part of the City of Gold Coast’s (the Principal) Ocean Beaches Strategy 2013-2023, the Principal is delivering the Surfers Paradise Sand Backpass Pipeline (the Pipeline) to provide resilience against coastal erosion and enhance beach amenity to the Gold Coast’s Northern Beaches. The Pipeline will be integrated with the existing Gold Coast Waterways Authority (GCWA) owned and operated sand bypass system at the Southport Seaway that currently delivers sand to South Stradbroke Island.
The proposed new 7.8 km Pipeline will deliver a portion of sand from the Spit to Surfers Paradise and provide resilience against coastal erosion and improve beach amenity. The Pipeline will be constructed of 450 mm diameter high density polyethylene pipe (PE100) and will consist of 6.4 km of permanent underground pipe, and 1.4 km of temporary pipe that will require installation and removal for each nourishment campaign.
It is the Principal’s intention to construct the Pipeline in two stages with the construction of Stage 1 being delivered internally in the 2019-20 financial year. The Principal is seeking to engage a Contractor for Stage 2 Works that can provide demonstrated capability, capacity and competency in the construction of underground pipelines, and associated infrastructure.
