The Victorian Government is seeking a solution to enable adjustment of face masks and face shields that can provide an individual fitting of loops with an additional plastic buckle - to support locally manufactured medical equipment and Protective Personal Equipment (PPE) to meet increased demand due to the COVID-19 pandemic. An Expression of Interest (EOI) is being called for the design, trial and manufacture of a suitable reusable plastic buckle using additive manufacturing.

Expressions of Interest:
Local additive manufacturing businesses interested in providing a design solution and manufacture of a reusable plastic buckle/fastener for use on existing face masks and face shields are encouraged to respond to this EOI.

Specific requirements:
Surgical and respiratory face masks and disposable and reusable face shields are critical items of PPE currently being utilised by front-line health workers. These protective items are often worn for many hours and are not able to be easily adjusted to enable a better fit and/or to reduce pressure on the wearer's ears.
Mask and face shields are generally secured by the wearer via non-latex elastic bands.

The plastic buckle/fastener should provide the following:
- a solution to face masks and face shields that can provide an individual fitting of loops
- be able to adjust the loops of face masks/shields
- be able to be sterilised and/or washable/wipe down with a disinfectant wipe
