Tender ID: 425005
Tender Details
Tender Description
Expressions of Interest (EOI) are sought from drought affected graziers in the Livingstone Shire Council area, and its immediate surrounds, for a 12 month cattle agistment opportunity commencing August 2020. The agistment is available on the property known as Strathmuir Station, near Marlborough (approx. 9,500 ha), and includes the land and stock-related infrastructure only (living facilities are not available for use). A southern section of the property (~1500 ha ) may be removed from the licence during the term. Access is available via Kooltandra Road.
The successful EOI applicant will be selected by Defence via a virtual ballot to be undertaken on 20 July 2020 at 1000. Until the drought declaration over the property is lifted, a fee of $1 (if and when demanded) will apply; thereafter a commercial fee of $2.50/head/week GST exclusive, will apply for the duration of the agreement. Dependant on timings, the rent relief policy announced by the Australian Government on 7 April 2020 may also be relevant in reducing rent payable by the successful applicant. The agistment will operate simultaneously with Defence Contractors accessing the land to undertake training area development activities.
The Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries will determine the number of adult-equivalent head of cattle to be agisted for the term and this will be advised to EOI applicants prior to the virtual ballot.
Graziers must register for this opportunity in order to participate in the virtual ballot. Upon registering for the EOI, you will be provided a copy of the grazing licence. Acceptance of the licence terms is a pre-requisite to entry into the ballot. The ballot will draw three places with, priority of access to the first drawn applicant. The following conditions will apply:
• A grazier holding an Individual Drought Declaration approved by the Queensland Government for their primary property in a non-drought declared Shire adjacent to Livingstone Shire is eligible and must make this known when responding to this EOI;
• The Grazier will take full responsibility for water points and fencing associated with the grazing of cattle;
• the grazier will take full responsibility for meeting all outgoing costs associated with land management and any other services (ie. electricity);
• The grazier must demonstrate reasonable land management practices, in accordance with legislation and local laws, during the term including but not limited to management of feral animals, weeds and fire.
• One or a group of graziers may operate under a licence for grazing on the property;
• The successful EOI applicant must undertake a physical inspection of the property prior to being granted a licence;
• Cattle must be managed by the grazier to remain within the nominated boundaries; and
• Defence will be afforded the right to access the land for its planning and construction purposes. If land size is reduced due to Defence construction requirements the stocking rate will be re-assed accordingly. The same rate per head per week will remain.
