Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) is inviting organisations specialising in small business initiatives targeted to the building and construction industry to submit applications for funding under the Small Business Program for 2020/21.

CSQ recognises that small businesses are the backbone of the Queensland building and construction industry. They create jobs, employ apprentices and trainees, provide a supply chain of skilled workers to meet the demands of larger projects and generally support economic growth and regional development.

Given the vital role that these businesses play, CSQ’s Small Business Program aims to increase the capability and capacity of small construction businesses through training and support in order to assist these businesses to help them to grow, survive and prosper.

This program will assist CSQ to partner with organisations specialising in small business support initiatives specifically targeted to the Queensland building and construction industry to target specific areas of need identified for these businesses.

Small Business Support Initiatives

The services delivered by organisations in receipt of Small Business Program funding will vary dependent on the focus area of the organisation and the identified need and related strategies.

The areas on which the Small Business Program will focus are:

Estimating, tendering, quoting and contract management
Marketing and business development
Financial and budgeting skills
Digital skills
Negotiation and Conflict Resolution
Knowledge to comply with legislation, regulation and codes

IMPORTANT NOTE: Delivery of accredited training will not be considered under this program as other CSQ programs provide funding for delivery of accredited training. The Small Business Program is aimed at encouraging other forms of support for small businesses.
