St. Athanasius Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church (SAJSOC), Canberra is a congregation of Syrian Orthodox Christians from India. We desire to build a Church and associated facilities in Canberra at 1 Rivett place, Rivett, ACT - 2611. The construction components include, church building, driveway, car park, a pedestrian pathway etc.
We are seeking Expression of Interest (EOI) from Licensed & Experienced Commercial Builders / Construction Contractors wishing to undertake design, development approval, build, commission and handover of the Church and associated facilities at 1 Rivett Place, Rivett, Canberra.
On receipt of EOI, we may at our discretion, invite respondents to submit a competitive tender by way of formal tender process. We also solicit a proposed master plan from the interested parties to make use of the land efficiently, now and into future. On progression to formal tender, we may use some of the good proposals from the EOIs received.
Based on our evaluation of the EOI, we reserve the rights to limit the number of participants in the tender to the shortlisted respondents to the EOI.

As per the initial analysis, we have identified the following major works (which is marked on the above map for easy understanding. Please move the mouse pointer over the respective item of the map for the proposed work item):
Church building
The church building has to have a seating capacity of 150 people. Proposed internal dimensions of the structure is: Width 15 meter, Length 25 meter, height 5 meter (Size of the building is negotiable to fit within the budjet). See the draft plan below for more details.
- Building orientation should be east-west, with the altar on the East side.
- Altar is a stage at the height of 500 – 600mm from the main floor level.
- Toilets as per statutory requirements (a minimum of 2 men’s toilet, 2 women’s toilet, one disabled toilet).
- Kitchen with Pantry facility, along with a breakout space for fellowship.
- One small room (Office/Change room as shown on the draft plan).
- Doors, Roof and windows as needed.
- All services including Water, Sewer, Gas, Telecom/NBN, Electrical, Fire & Safety systems
- Ventilation & Air conditioning systems
