The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is looking to engage an Independent Technical Advisor (ITA) to provide independent technical advice to the PTA, in particular PTA’s Network & Infrastructure division and Technical Strategy Steering Group (TSSG).

PTA’s TSSG provides governance, oversight and monitoring in managing rail system risk and safety assurance resulting from technical changes that have the potential to impact the safety and risk profile of PTA’s rail assets or operations. This includes changes resulting from major projects.

The role of the TSSG also provides a coordinated and integrated management through the governance of a number of PTA processes. These processes provide an appropriate level of risk management prior to projects, and/or the introduction of new or altered products or processes that introduce changes to the rail system being brought into service or implemented

The Independent Technical Advisor role is required to support the PTA through the management of risk and optimisation of asset management, provide independent advice, highlight significant risks and areas for improvement equal to world’s best practice.

Particular activities will include, but not be limited to:

• Review submissions to Technical Strategy Steering Group and provide independent advice;
• Review technical documents and provide advice and propose improvements;
• Provide independent assessment of compliance against PTAs processes and standards that are applied; and
• Provide Technical advice to PTAs Discipline Managers.
