Wellington Zoo: Snow Leopards - Main Construction Contractor (ECI)
Tender ID: 429661
Tender Details
Tender Description
This is an exciting opportunity to work in partnership with Wellington Zoo Trust and our lead designer to successfully deliver the Snow Leopard Project.
On behalf of Wellington City Council, Wellington Zoo Trust invites Tenders from contractors to be engaged as the build consultant (under an Early Contractor Involvement ‘ECI’ Agreement) sitting within the design team to inform the design process so as to reduce on site variations and keep the project under budget.
As “Preferred Contractor” under the ECI Agreement, the Contractor will be given the opportunity to bid for the delivery of a fixed price construction contract (under a 3910:2013 construction contract, as amended by WCC’s standard terms) to undertake the proposed construction works in accordance with the design as described in Section 2 of this document at 200 Daniell Street, Newtown, Wellington (the Project).
The Zoo’s strategy for delivering the ECI Agreement has determined that the contract will:
- engage the main contractor (via the ECI Agreement) to contribute to the design process providing buildability and cost reviews during the design development;
- provide a commercial proposal to deliver the design, including a lump sum fixed price for the build contract (under 3910:2013, amended in accordance with WCC’s standard terms) once sufficient detailed documentation is available; and
- construct the Snow Leopard Project as per the design.
The design will be developed with the Zoo project team, the Zoo’s Lead Designer and their sub-consultant team (consisting of structural and civil engineers and landscape architects) and the Interpretive Designer. The outcome of this process will be detailed construction drawings and specification for the project construction. The project will involve the potential demolition and redevelopment of an existing old sun bear habitat into a new structure to house Snow Leopards, construction of an off-display building for staff and animal use, visitor viewing areas and pathways and ground and structural works required to support the habitat structure and associated buildings.
The successful Contractor will be a competent build partner able to provide advisory services to assist in the design process to help with the creation of robust set of documents for sub-contractor tendering and bringing innovation and cost management decisions to ensure that the budget and timeframe are met.
