Xavier High School is located regionally in Albury, New South Wales. With approximately 900 students enrolled it is one of the largest secondary schools in Albury and the surrounding area. The project is jointly funded through a Federal Block Grant and the Catholic Schools Foundation and will deliver significant improvements of the school’s gymnasium along with somere furbishments to Blocks B classrooms & Block J performing arts space.

This project includes the redevelopment of the existing gymnasium to expand the space for sporting activities, create a raised stage, a mezzanine viewing area, additional classroom facilities, alteration to the main entry points and to provide a more user-friendly environment. Through partial demolition and significant additions, the project will significantly increase the footprint and functionality of the gymnasium building.

Refurbishment of Blocks B & J (Performing Arts) will allow the school dedicated rooms for specialist classes. This will be aesthetic works consisting of painting, external façade glazing refurbishment and flooring to Block B. The works for Block J include the creation of additional music based learning spaces through the breaking up of the auditorium with large learning areas and individual practice rooms.

The gymnasium building is located at the North West of the school grounds whilst Blocks B & J are East of the grounds. The successful contractor will be required to establish a construction zone within the school grounds and have a proven track record of delivering complex projects in a “live” educational environment.

Broadly, the project will include the following works:
• Demolition of the majority of the existing gymnasium apart from the Western wall and existing concrete surface which are to remain.
• Refurbishment of Performing Arts area reconfiguring to three specialist classrooms and general aesthetics of classrooms to Block B.
• Construction of the stadium including a canteen, two bathrooms, entry/foyer, two classrooms, stage area, mezzanine viewing area, new floor layouts for associated sports and an outdoor
entertainment area and other improvements
