Introduction and background
Kara Magnetite Pty Ltd (Company) is the marketing and logistics subsidiary of Tasmania Mines Pty Ltd (Tasmania Mines), a privately-owned company and distributor of magnetite products worldwide (collectively referred to as the Group).
The Group owns and operates the Kara Mine site, located 35km south from the Port of Burnie in North West Tasmania, and offers a wide range of magnetite products including scheelite, fine grade magnetite, superfine grade magnetite, maxi-fine grade magnetite, and ultrafine grade magnetite. The products are sold directly by Tasmania Mines to export customers and by the Company to customers in Australia.
Existing network
The magnetite arrives at the Port of Burnie in North West Tasmania and is transported to the
Company facilities based in Kooragang, Newcastle, NSW. From here, the products are
delivered to customers throughout NSW and QLD and to our sites in Gladstone QLD and
Mackay QLD.
The Group’s major customer base is the coal mining industry, as magnetite is an integral part
of the coal washing process.
Request for Proposal
We are seeking interested bids for the following services -
The Contractor will be required to perform the following services:
- transport and unloading of magnetite from the Kooragang wharf to the Facility;
- storage and stockpile management of magnetite at the Facility, including stock balance management and reporting, dust control and management of weighbridge;
- loading and transport of magnetite from the Facility to designated sites located across NSW and unloading the magnetite in accordance with applicable site rules; and
- manage delivery scheduling and allocation with customer contacts for the timely delivery of magnetite to customer sites whilst maximising delivery fleet utilisation and service levels.
