This Notice of Information (NOI) is to provide project information ahead of the tender which will be advertised separately on the 5th October 2020.
It is provided as an early indication only of the project scope and will not form part of any future tender documents or contract documents.
The development of an alternative route, Te Ahu a Tūranga: Manawatū Tararua Highway, now means we must consider what to do with the closed section of SH3 on a more permanent basis, ‘the future of the Manawatū Gorge’.
This project is to confirm the future function and associated form of the full length of the closed section of SH3 through the Manawatū Gorge.
The scope of the project includes:
1) A geotechnical assessment to determine those sections of the Manawatū Gorge worth investigating future access opportunities and those sections which may require permanent closure
2) A single stage business case to determine what will be done with areas where safe access can be provided
3) A management plan for those areas where the road is to be closed and further access cannot be provided
This is NOT the commencement of a tender process or a Registration of Interest (ROI) to tender. Requesting the project information in no way holds Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency to include the requestor in any tender process.
