Sustainable Timber Tasmania is undertaking a process to identify companies or organisations that are interested in an opportunity to process lower grade eucalypt logs sourced from Southern Tasmania.

The resource will be available in commercial quantities and is suitable for a range of uses including peeling and other solid wood recovery processes.

Additional volumes may be independently procured from a range of private forest owner sources.

There is strong preference for the continuation of wood processing operations at the Southwood (Huon) wood processing site near Judbury.

At Southwood, there is significant infrastructure that can be utilised for manufacturing, including fully serviced large sheds and warehouses, exterior hard standings, good road access and security, modern office accommodation, log handling equipment and other plant.
