Tender Description
The purpose of this open EOI is for the team at the Impossible House to short list suitable respondents who will be invited to tender for the design of a residential water recycling system. The request for expressions of interest is open to all interested local and international applicants who meet the project criteria.
PROJECT BACKGROUND
My team and I are taking my 2-bedroom, semi-detached, inner-city cottage on 104m2, and transforming it into a 3 bedroom sustainable home. We aim to:
*Go completely off grid
*Generate enough energy and capture/recycle enough water to support a 3-person household
*Use recycled materials wherever possible. Where it's not possible, non-toxic and sustainably sourced materials will be substituted
*Minimise costs. We want this type of build to be accessible for anyone contemplating a build or renovation.
*Achieve and appealing design and feel. We want to contribute to an attitude shift in society, so it's important that the house is not only sustainable, with low running costs, but also that it's liveable and appealing by today's standards and never viewed as "slumming it" or "extreme"
*Follow "Passive Haus" solar passive principles. The house will have no heating and cooling
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THE WATER RECYCLING SYSTEM
*recycle all water so that it may be re-used for drinking, the garden or the washing machine (note that there is an incinerating toilet so there is no black water)
*no water to leave the property (i.e. disconnected from the mains and storm water)
*support a 3 person household
*cost of the solution to be less than $30,000 (excluding your fee)
*the system must satisfy NSW health regulations
