Scope of Work

Area to be covered: Approx. 1500km of mainline sections of the Rio Tinto Iron Ore rail network.

Elements of Scope:

• Conduct desktop study of the rail network to identify geotechnical and hydrogeological field investigation requirements
• Provide specification and details of GPR survey equipment interface with RTIO's track inspection vehicle (US6) as the preferred platform onto which the survey equipment would be mounted
• Undertake GPR survey of the rail network (ballast & formation)
• Provide georeferenced LiDAR mapping and 3D visualisation of the rail network
• Undertake GPR field calibration (on track) through sampling techniques
• Provide a comprehensive report on the condition of track formation and ballast layer for each mainline and track section
• Provide a software solution (data viewer / reader) to facilitate data interpretation and visualisation, or alternatively, deliver all survey and investigation data in formats compatible to Rio Tinto approved software package
