Tender Description

Woorabinda Pastoral Company is requesting tenders for contract farming operations to service our extensive cropping enterprise at Duaringa QLD.

The operation consists of 5,300ha of cultivation over two farms, on either side of the Mackenzie river, being Foleyvale 3,700ha and Dawsonvale 1,600ha. We are seeking separate tenders for farming operations at Foleyvale and Dawsonvale.

Last year's annual production was:

  • · Sorghum;
  • · Corn;
  • · Mungbean;
  • · Wheat;
  • · Barley;
  • · Chickpeas.

The successful applicant/s must work in conjunction with WPC management and advisors to implement the annual cropping program with the utmost timeliness and professionalism. The successful applicant/s must have the ability to, or be able to source/access the following:

  • · Planting Equipment:
  • · Both tractor and planter, planter set up to be on 50cm spacings preferably tyne and press-wheel design to enable deep planting of chickpeas to a depth of 4-6 inches;
  • · Have capacity to plant both summer and winter grains and pulses and be self-sufficient in this process, i.e., have capacity to manage seed, inoculation and fertiliser as required through the operations;
  • · It would be desirable to have precision planting option for summer planting and the capacity to apply fertiliser both at depth (deep P applications) and at the time of planting (starter fertiliser/urea) as required.
  • · Spraying Equipment:
  • · High clearance spray rig to allow for spraying out of sorghum and in crop insecticide sprays for sorghum and pulses;
  • · Be accredited to apply pesticides correctly, safely, and according to label directions.
  • · Harvesting Equipment:
  • · Header, chaser bin and field bins to conduct all field operations;
  • · Have the capacity to harvest corn or be able to source the equipment to harvest corn;
  • · It would be desirable to have a more than one harvester due to the size of the operation at WPC;
  • · It would also be desirable to have capacity to cart grain from the paddock to the silo complex on site;
  • · Other Equipment/Services:
  • · From time to time there is likely to be times where some light tillage would be necessary. The applicant will need to be able to complete light spot tillage with a chisel plough and should have the capacity for this.
  • · Supervised Training to Indigenous Employees:
  • · Provide supervised access to indigenous trainees for the purpose of obtaining the necessary ticket/licence to operate the aforementioned plant and equipment. A program will be negotiated and developed with the successful tenderer/s.

Applicants can tender for either farm or both, can tender independently for the planting, spraying, harvesting, and cartage operations. Fuel is to be supplied by the applicant for all farming operations.
