This Request for Expressions of Interest (EOI) is the first stage of a two-stage process to create a shortlist of contractors with demonstrated capability and capacity to undertake the Design & Construct (D&C) contractor works for the GMHBA Stadium Stage 5 redevelopment.
In the second stage, Kardinia Park Stadium Trust (the Trust) intends to invite tenders from shortlisted contractors to determine the preferred contractor to undertake construction works.

GMHBA Stadium (the Stadium) is Victoria’s largest regional sports stadium, located within the parkland setting of Kardinia Park, just over 1km south of the CBD of the City of Geelong.

The Stadium is located at 370 Moorabool Street, Geelong, 3220 within the Kardinia Park Precinct. The site is bound by Moorabool Street to the east, with surrounding Crown Land to the north, west and south currently managed by the City of Greater Geelong as Committee of Management.

The Stadium is managed by the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust under the Kardinia Park Stadium Act 2016. The venue currently hosts a range of sporting events throughout the year including Big Bash Cricket, AFL, AFLW, VFL and VFLW matches, A-League football matches, as well as other entertainment and community events.

On 21 September 2018, the Premier announced an election commitment of $102 million towards the Stage 5 redevelopment of the stadium with an additional $40 million in funding announced on 07 November 2020. The project scope announced as part of the Premier’s election commitment includes:

• New 14,000 capacity two-tier northern stand to replace the ageing Ford Stand and Ablett Terrace and increase the stadium capacity to 40,000;
• New northern entry plaza for patrons;
• New unisex change rooms and facilities;
• Replacement of existing Geelong Cricket Club facilities;
• Sports museum;
• Regional cricket hub; and
• New media and loading facilities.
