Tender Description
This contract comprises of drainage upgrade of existing culverts going across the roadway on Galatos Road (RP 3400) and Tarawera Road (RP 8611) within the Rotorua District.
This work includes earthworks, drainage improvements, pavement construction, and first coat sealing.
The Contractor must make provision for the following:
- Provision and maintenance of traffic control and safety for vehicles and cyclists
- Environment management, including erosion and sediment control
- The set out of the works and the location of all underground services and LINZ survey marks
- Liaise with service authorities to locate gas, sewer, storm water, water, power and telecommunication cables
- Liaise with property owners as required
- Liaise with other Authorities such as Waka Kotahi (formerly NZTA), mana whenua and the local regional councils
- Protect existing services
- Quality Assurance for all aspects of the contract works
- As-Built documents (RAMM Inventory Sheets) of the works
Due to the high tourist traffic expected during the summer months, the Tarawera Road drainage upgrade shall be constructed entirely outside of the following date range: 1 October to 31 March, inclusive. As such, the Tarawera Road drainage works is a Separable Portion to this Contract. No such date constraints apply to the Galatos Road site.
A planning assessment has been undertaken for both sites and it is noted that there is no consent required for the minor tree removal that might be anticipated. Planning assessments and other advisory notes have been included in the appendices for the Contractor. The Contractor is responsible for getting Engineer's approval prior to any tree removal on site.
The Contractor will also be responsible for maintenance of any defects for twelve months after the Practical Completion Certificate has been issued.
Tenderers are advised that the Principal reserves the right to vary the scale of the works to fit within the constraints of the available funding for this project. There shall be no claim for a variation, as a result of any change to the scale of the works.
