This project provides for the demolition of the Second Emery’s Bridge located adjacent to the Emery’s Bridge Road, Gundiah.  The bridge crosses the Mary River and served the communities in these areas until a new high level concrete bridge was constructed in 1997-98.   

The Second Emery’s Bridge is a multi-span timber bridge (70m), spanning the Mary River. The bridge has not been maintained since the construction of the new high level concrete bridge and has deteriorated to the extent that access to the structure has been restricted and now requires full demolition and removal.  The pylons of the bridge will be left in place to historically indicate where the bridge was originally located (this mimics action taken for the First Emery’s Bridge).
