The YVW remote telemetry network includes a large number of 3G cellular remote telemetry devices (data loggers with integral modems, and standalone modems associated with RTUs).

YVW recognise that the 3G cellular network will be progressively decommissioned between the present time and 2024. This means that the large number of currently deployed 3G remote telemetry devices will stop functioning by 2024. All deployed 3G devices must be upgraded to 4G capability.

The proposed contract involves engagement of a contractor to:

• Replace currently installed 37South 3G Site Sentinel RTU data loggers with equivalent Metasphere Point Colour 4G data loggers
• Replace currently installed 37South 3G Site Sentinel RTU data loggers with equivalent 4G Site Sentinel data loggers
• Upgrade currently installed 3G modem modules inside 37South Site Sentinel RTU data loggers to 4G
• Replace existing standalone 3G modems with equivalent 4G modems

YVW will free issue 4G modems and (where applicable) associated Ethernet switches to the Contractor. All other equipment is to be supplied by the Contractor.

The total number of devices to be upgraded is around 550.
