About the Project:
Market Development Facility is an Australian Government funded multi-country initiative which promotes sustainable economic development, through higher incomes for women and men, in our partner countries.
We connect individuals, businesses, governments, and NGOs with each other, and with markets at home and abroad. This enhances investment and coordination and allows partnerships to flourish, strengthening inclusive economic growth. MDF is funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT). It is implemented by Palladium in partnership with Swisscontact.
About the Role:
MDF is currently building a Pacific regional portfolio, focusing on improving regional economic integration and on supporting the growth and competitiveness of high-value agriculture, urban industries and tourism in Tonga, Samoa, and Vanuatu. This expansion work places a high demand on effective recruitment solutions in an already very busy and productive environment.
The Recruitment Coordinator will take a leading role in coordinating all end-to-end recruitment processes across the Facility. The successful person in the role will be a compliance-focused recruitment professional with a track record of quality high-volume recruitment, preferably with experience recruiting in Pacific countries.
As a large proportion of MDF’s recruitment processes will be undertaken in the Pacific, this position will ideally be based in Brisbane, Australia (applicants must have work rights). There is opportunity to grow professionally within this role with MDF.

- Working with the HR Manager, establish and develop an understanding of recruitment pipelines, and work this information into the recruitment tracking systems.
- Take a proactive approach to ensuring recruitment documentation is consolidated in a timely manner and filed appropriately into MDF’s central filing system.
- With particular focus on the Pacific expansion, support and guide the pacific regional team (including new Operations Managers) through recruitment processes in country to establish technical teams.
- Working with the HR Manager, provide advice to hiring managers on talent sourcing and assessment methodologies to ensure MDF places the right people into the right positions.
- Coordinate interview and other assessment processes with stakeholders (panellists and applicants) across multiple time zones, preparing video conference set-ups and applicant/panel interview preparation documents.
- Sit in as a panellist on at least 50% of MDF’s recruitment activities, supporting compliance with procedural aspects of recruitment. Where requested, take notes on behalf of the panel to summarise applicant responses during interviews.
- Draft all MDF Pacific Regional Expansion related contracts and coordinate the review of contracts by the HR Manager and the approval by the approving delegate.
