The Gordon TAFE – East Geelong Campus is intending to issue a tender for the construction works of the optimization of the carpentry and plumbing trade training areas at its East Geelong Campus.

The project comprises the construction of a new 400m2 building, a 290m2 part first floor within an existing workshop, the refurbishment of existing carpentry and plumbing trade training areas, the extension of a steel framed canopy structure, the construction of a 147m2 plumbing training pit, a timber storage area, staff office refurbishment, and associated site works, building and essential services.

Applicable Government policies affecting the procurement include: Social Procurement Policy, Local jobs First Policy and Supplier Code of Conduct.

The project is expected to go out to tender in mid May 2021, under a selective tender process. The contract will be a Victorian Public Sector Construction Contract. The construction works are expected to commence late June 2021 and be completed by end of January 2022.

The construction works shall be divided into four parts that will start at specific times and be completed at various times to suit the delivery of training programs at the Gordon

Four contractors will be invited to submit a tender. The contractors must be prequalified in New Commercial Construction on the Construction Supplier Register with a minimum prequalification limit of $3M.

Assessment Criteria will include: Demonstrated capacity to work on four parts simultaneously with various starting and completion dates, previous experience on similar educational projects, capacity to work within an occupied site and to coordinate with occupants and users, Social Procurement and Local jobs First policies, and Value for money
