The Queensland Police Service (QPS) intends to approach the market for the provision of POLAIR helicopter services to undertake airborne law enforcement activities including as a minimum:

• Helicopters must be multi-engine, have the capability of operating over all terrain (including water) and be able to conduct day and night operations;
• Each helicopter must have the capability of:

1. being certified for single pilot operation (IFR and NVIS);
2. conducting visual searches;
3. aerial mapping and capturing aerial imagery;
4. capturing thermal imagery;
5. operating at low level;
6. operating in controlled and uncontrolled air space;

• Helicopters are required to operate from two (2) bases (Brisbane and Gold Coast Local Government Boundaries);
• Suitably qualified pilots;
• Helicopters will be required to display QPS Corporate Identity branding;
• Total flying time of approximately 2,000 hours per annum; and
• A high readiness standby capability.

This will be a fully managed service including aircraft, pilot, ongoing servicing and maintenance. The helicopters will be required to operate mainly within South East Queensland with the capability for deployment to service the State of Queensland.
