The South Australian Film Corporation recently released its Strategic Plan 2020-23 with the strategic aims of:

A core action of the strategic aims is to ‘Operate world-class production facilities which enhance the capacity of the local sector and the state’s attractiveness as a production location and generate funds for industry activities’.

Following the recent review of the Adelaide Studios Precinct, the SA Film Corporation is now inviting further engagement in the form of ‘market soundings’ in relation to future uses of the Adelaide Studios Precinct – with the goal of meeting the action to ‘enhance the capacity of the local sector and the state’s attractiveness as a production location, and generate funds for industry activities’.

SCOPE

The SA Film Corporation is inviting nominations to participate in a market sounding process to seek industry concepts for the Adelaide Studios Precinct on achieving the action to ‘enhance the capacity of the local sector and the state’s attractiveness as a production location, and generate funds for industry activities’.

The market sounding will give industry the opportunity to provide feedback on the Adelaide Studios Precinct including:

• Sound Stages
• Post Sound Facilities
• Construction Workshop
• Production Facilities
• Administration Building

To maintain independence from the process, the SA Film Corporation have engaged BDO to undertake the market sounding. Any responses to the process will be kept confidential, with a report to be provided by BDO to the SA Film Corporation for consideration.

Focus Areas

The following areas are being considered as part of the market sounding process:

• Interests and opportunities in the Adelaide Studios Precinct
• Interest in operations or use of the Adelaide Studios Precinct
• Potential constraints or risks
• Timelines
• Potential contractual engagement mechanisms
• Potential procurement or other processes

Considerations

Participation in the market sounding process is purely voluntary. Participants are encouraged to provide as much input as possible – but note that some information may be deemed confidential. Where information shared with BDO is deemed confidential, participants are requested to clearly identify this information as confidential. BDO may clarify with the participant the nature of the confidentiality to confirm its appropriate treatment. Participants should note that State or Commonwealth laws (or other) may prohibit this confidentiality position.

The market soundings do not seek to encourage sales pitches, obtain unnecessary commercially sensitive information, represent the position of SA Film Corporation, or make any commitment regarding future strategies or processes.

The SA Film Corporation does not have a position or plan regarding the future of the site. The purpose of these market soundings is to seek additional information from industry on the best use of the site to enable the action to ‘enhance the capacity of the local sector and the state’s attractiveness as a production location, and generate funds for industry activities’. Therefore, information and feedback provided during this process may be used to inform future decisions in relation to the use of the Adelaide Studios Precinct.
