Origin Energy Eraring Pty (Origin) owns and operates Eraring Power Station (EPS), a black coal-fired power station with a capacity of 2,922 MW, located on the shores of Lake Macquarie, NSW close to Dora Creek. Ash is produced from the electricity generation process at EPS and the ash has many properties which make it an excellent base product to be recycled into other uses, Origin is seeking expressions of interest from interested parties to increase the amount of ash being recycled.

Requirement
Origin will provide access to various grades of ash from a location at EPS for successful parties.
Interested parties must present only environmentally beneficial uses of ash based on existing proven technologies.
Origin will supply ash in accordance with the Coal Ash Order 2014 or an approved Specific Resource Recycling Order / Exemption.
All submissions must outline the proposed use(s) of ash and that the use(s) is/are approved by the Coal Ash Exemption, 2014 and any other approvals you require. Expressions must show a detailed knowledge of these requirements and your compliance to these.
If the submission includes the movement of ash on public highways with Heavy Goods Vehicles, Chain of Responsibility requirements must be included.

Minimum annual ash collection of 10,000 tonnes.

Objective
Origin wish to increase the amount of recycled ash from both the current production and historic stock pile (~30 Mt) at EPS to reduce our environmental footprint as we exit coal generation in 2032, we wish to engage with suitable, likeminded parties with an interest and capability to re-use ash for the benefit of the environment.

It does not, in any manner, indicate any intention by Origin to enter into further discussions with any respondent which submits information and expresses interest to participate in this process, or to enter into any contract or other commercial relationship between Origin and such company, nor does it constitute an undertaking by Origin to award any contracts to, or to place any purchase orders related thereto whatsoever, on any person. Origin is under no obligation to consider only the respondents to this EOI for potential future engagement.

Responses by Origin will only be made to short-listed prospective respondents and Origin may request further information from such respondents. Origin may also arrange for auditing of information that has been provided by a respondent pursuant to this EOI.
