Supply and Installation of Paste Plant Dropper - Prominent Hill Expansion Project (PHOX)

⁠⁠⁠BHP Prominent Hill is transitioning from a 10Mtpa processing plant to a 7.5Mtpa processing plant. This decrease in processed material, in addition to increased backfill demand has resulted in the current final tailings pumps (PPC-284, PPC-285, PPC291) operating outside their pump curve. An engineering review has been completed of the likely operating conditions of the final tailings pumps and has found the existing pumps need to be downsized to operate efficiently and reliability.

Accordingly, BHP requires a surface to underground lined borehole and dropper that will be utilised as a second pastefill reticulation system from the Ankata paste plant to the underground mine workings. The requirements of this scope are supply of a lined borehole assembly suitable for pastefill delivery, in addition to services for supervision of the installation, handling and QA/QC.

A suitable drilled and oversized steel lined borehole will be provided for installation of the Ankata paste dropper. The drilling of the initial cased hole is excluded from this scope of works.

The scope requires provision of labour and equipment for the handling and installation of the Ankata Paste Dropper along with quality assurance and quality control services.

Planned installation methodology is with use of a slew crane, pick and carry mobile crane and a hydraulic breakout/torque unit. Crane hire and rigger labour is excluded from this scope.
