Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga (HNZPT) is the country's leading bicultural heritage agency. The organisation’s activities relate to the recognition and promotion of New Zealand's historic and cultural heritage. Te Ao Māori influences much of what we do, and we support Maihi Karauna in various way including incorporation of te reo Māori in our public-facing communications. We balance a statutory function with an advocacy one, a situation that is generally unusual for similar heritage organisations around the world. The website is an integral tool for carrying out our work and sharing our rich and diverse heritage.
HNZPT has recently completed a review of its website and its CMS. Substantial discovery work has identified areas for improvement. For example, logical pathways to information are not apparent to users and content is not as readable or engaging as it could be. There is also the need to increase efficiency and eliminate double-handling particularly within statutory functions.
The version of the CMS in use is now out of support. The development and associated costs with this CMS likely now far exceeds the requirements of HNZPT. HNZPT would like to investigate options for a CMS more suited to its needs, and allows for reasonable future-proofing as the site is further developed and our own IT environment develops.
These factors present an exciting opportunity to create a website that is beautiful to behold, easy to use, that caters to the needs of our diverse audiences, that is technically and culturally responsive, well supported, simple to maintain, and that reflects the identity and aspirations of HNZPT.
The purpose of this Request for Proposal (“RFP”) is to invite external organisations to submit their proposals to HNZPT with information on their skills, services and experience in providing:
- Evaluation of content management systems
- Website visual design appropriate and attractive to key audiences, aids in task completion.
- Application development (technical) that follows the design parameters, integrates with other systems and helps guide the user to content of most relevance.
- Improved search experience so the user can confidently search all reasonable content and can easily understand the results
- A low risk approach to planning and implementation with clear milestones
- Ongoing support for the chosen solution.
