Tender Description

HQP is currently reviewing marketing opportunities for logs grown in our North Queensland plantation forests. A rare opportunity has arisen for parties to express an interest in the utilisation of these logs. We are seeking proposals that provide market solutions for small diameter, fast grown logs in log or chip form. Processing options may include solid wood for construction, pallet or landscaping markets, fibre for bioenergy/biofuel markets or other carbon positive proposals.

We seek interested parties who share our enthusiasm for creating value in North Queensland and providing market-based solutions for addressing climate change. Ideally, you will have a proven capacity to deliver value-creating projects in your nominated manufacturing/processing field of expertise.

We are looking for solutions that provide:

  • local processing as a priority, however, the region’s infrastructure through the Port of Lucinda and the Port of Townsville would support the full range of export options
  • a single party to process the maximum annual sustainable yield, however we will also consider proposals for smaller compatible allocations
  • long-term, stable, risk-weighted returns for both the current resource, and to also underpin future potential expansion opportunities
  • high level of product and value recovery across a broad range of plantation types and log grades
  • (species, age, log dimensions and straightness, wood quality etc.)
  • capacity to manage and mitigate risk and uncertainty (including cyclone and wildfire risks)
  • opportunities to address climate impacts through a carbon neutral supply chain
  • positive socio-economic impacts, especially on local communities
  • a strong ability to meet HQP’s safety and environmental requirements.
