This Tender is invited by the Issuer.
Working as a member of the Communications team, this position will support ARPANSA’s external and internal stakeholders through writing and editing compelling content and updating digital platforms. The Communications Officer is responsible for assisting in the execution of communication strategies and plans and supporting the day-to-day management of the Agency's website and intranet, including content creation and publishing. Support of media engagement will also form part of this role.
Full Requirements - Key accountabilities
• Complete assigned writing, editing and website update tasks in line with agreed deadlines
• Contribute to the maintenance of the ARPANSA website by reviewing and updating content
• Support the Senior Communications Officer with responding to media enquiries as required
• Prepare written material for publication on social media, media releases, intranet articles and corporate communications
• Assist in delivery of internal events
Job specific capabilities
To be considered for this position, you will have a background in communications and/or marketing and have strong written and verbal communication skills. You will be able to translate complex content according to the audience and style, brand and tone.
You will have demonstrated relationship and stakeholder management skills including the ability to identify emerging issues, establish expectations and plan ahead.
You will be comfortable working in a small team and be confident using Microsoft Office and have some knowledge of website content management. You will know how to use or have the ability to learn SharePoint and ARPANSA’s website content management system (Drupal).
You will have experience developing and implementing communication strategies and sound judgement on appropriate voice and context for a Federal Government Agency.
You must hold Australian citizenship or possess permanent residency status leading to citizenship and be prepared to travel interstate from time to time as required. ARPANSA requires all new staff to undertake a baseline security clearance as a condition of engagement.
Evaluation criteria
1. Demonstrated experience in working with, and providing strategic advice to clients and business owners to develop and implement communication strategies and activities
2. Demonstrated experience in editing documentation and translating technical information to intended audience and according to a defined style, brand, tone and the APS Government style manual
3. Experience responding to media enquiries and preparing and obtaining approvals for media statements
4. Experience writing effective content for a variety of communication channels, including social media
5. Demonstrated experience publishing online content, including updating content on a website or intranet platform (preferably SharePoint and WordPress or other content management system.
